A simple operational change introduced by CleanEvent at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium is expected to remove more than 11,400 single-use plastic water bottles from the company’s operations each year.
The initiative, led by Hilary Collins, General Manager, Venue Presentation, replaces single-use plastic bottles with reusable alternatives for operational teams working across match days and major events.
While relatively straightforward to implement, the change demonstrates how reviewing everyday working practices can deliver measurable environmental benefits at scale. Based on the stadium’s annual event programme, the switch to reusable bottles will significantly reduce plastic waste generated by day-to-day operations.
The initiative forms part of CleanEvent’s wider commitment to reducing waste and embedding sustainable practices across its services. Alongside investments in carbon reduction, responsible sourcing and resource efficiency, the business continues to identify practical improvements that can make a measurable difference without affecting operational performance.
Coinciding with Plastic Free July, the initiative highlights how environmental progress is often achieved through incremental improvements rather than large-scale projects. By challenging established ways of working and adopting practical alternatives, CleanEvent continues to reduce the environmental impact of its operations while supporting clients in achieving their own sustainability objectives.
As environmental expectations continue to grow across the sports, events and facilities management sectors, initiatives such as these demonstrate how small operational changes can collectively contribute to meaningful, long-term improvements.
