CleanEvent Services becomes a Certified B Corporation™

CleanEvent Services is now a Certified B Corporation™, marking an important milestone in our continued commitment to operating as a responsible and sustainable business.

B Corps are companies verified as meeting B Lab Standards for social and environmental performance, transparency and accountability. For CleanEvent, achieving certification has meant looking closely at how we operate across our business, recognising where we are already making a positive difference and identifying where we can continue to improve.

Our assessment resulted in an overall B Impact Score of 80.0, measuring our performance across Governance, Workers, Community, Environment and Customers.

The process required detailed evidence and verification from across CleanEvent, examining areas ranging from the way we support and develop our people to our environmental practices, supply chain, community impact, governance and customer stewardship.

Building on the work already underway

Becoming a B Corp builds on the work already taking place through our GreenEvent Effect ESG and sustainability strategy, bringing together our environmental ambitions with our approach to people, responsible employment, supply chain, communities and good governance.

Our B Impact assessment provides an independent benchmark against which we can measure that work. Alongside our overall score of 80.0, the assessment recorded scores of 16.8 for Governance, 23.8 for Workers, 20.2 for Community, 15.4 for Environment and 3.6 for Customers.

Within those areas, our assessment also recognised work across Health, Wellness & Safety, Career Development, Diversity, Equity & Inclusion, Supply Chain Management and Customer Stewardship, while highlighting areas where there is more for us to do.

A company-wide achievement

Getting us to this point has taken a significant amount of work, led by Corey Watts, People & Safety Coordinator, who has driven the B Corp project from the outset and worked across the business to bring together the evidence, actions and improvements required to achieve certification. Corey said:

“Achieving B Corp certification has involved looking closely at every part of our business. It has allowed us to recognise the positive work already taking place while also challenging us to think about where we can do more.

It has taken contributions from people right across CleanEvent to get us to this point, and that is what makes achieving certification particularly rewarding. But becoming a B Corp isn’t the end of the journey. If anything, it raises the bar and gives us another way to hold ourselves accountable as we continue to develop.”

What does this mean for our clients?

For our clients, B Corp Certification provides further independent evidence of the standards we are working to embed behind the services we deliver.

Increasingly, organisations want their supply chains to demonstrate responsible employment practices, environmental management, good governance and transparency. Our certification gives clients another independently verified measure of the business behind their cleaning and venue presentation services.

It also supports the conversations we are already having with clients around ESG, social value, responsible sourcing and carbon reduction, giving us a common benchmark from which to identify opportunities and continue improving together.

Certification is not the finish line

We are proud of what we have achieved, but becoming a B Corp is not an end point.

Our assessment gives us both evidence of the progress already made and a clearer picture of where further improvement can be achieved. As CleanEvent continues to grow, we will continue to challenge ourselves, measure our progress and consider the wider impact of the decisions we make.

If anything, becoming a B Corp raises the bar.
