The Vodacom Durban July has become South Africa’s premier crowd gathering event due to the perfect blend of sport and glamour.

Owners, trainers, breeders, jockeys, everybody wants to win the July! When you win the July you walk off the grandstand and it’s like putting on your Springbok jersey and saying you have arrived. Gary Player says “it’s like winning The Masters.”

On Saturday the 4th July, CleanEvent Services South Africa were proud to be in the position of Official Facilities Services Partner to Africa’s most prestigious Horse racing event, which was first run back in July 1897, It has subsequently continued annually at the very same Greyville racecourse in Durban. The current winners’ purse stands at an impressive R3.5 Million. More than 70,000 revellers descended on the Coastal City and spent a staggering R250 Million on accommodation, drinks and food.

CleanEvent Services SA were responsible for the overall venue operational management and provided services which included; cleaning, lift attendants, waste and recycling. We also facilitated the exterior security solution safe zone and managed external venue lighting. Further to this we conducted an online survey which we advertised on the big screens around the venue; results were pleasing with 100% of the survey-takers feeling safe and secure at the event, with the same result with regard to the overall cleanliness of the venue.

“We feel the event has been a great success and are really proud of our achievements in year one of our relationship with Gold Circle and The Vodacom Durban July but are certainly confident we can improve and grow our involvement in years to come”
