Last week CleanEvent supported The Jockey Club in the cleaning of the annual four day Cheltenham Festival. Whilst this was a successful, record-breaking event, our thoughts were often with those in Ukraine.
As a fund-raising initiative, our operations team set a challenge for all managers working at the event to see who could cover the most ground during Cheltenham Festival week. Event cleaning sees our staff and managers constantly on the go, and at venues as huge as Cheltenham, the areas used by the public are vast. For the person that completed the most steps, CleanEvent would donate 1 penny per step to the Ukraine Crisis Appeal.

Operations Director Jay Adderley at Cheltenham Festival 2022
The winner by a mere 100 steps was CleanEvent’s Operations Director, Jay Adderley. Jay undertook over 20,000 steps a day whilst working the Festival, resulting in a grand total of 126,411 steps – the equivalent of seventeen Cheltenham Gold Cup race distances.
