CleanEvent Services has completed its latest carbon footprint assessment, marking another important step in the continuous development of our environmental strategy and commitment to transparent reporting.
As expectations around corporate sustainability continue to evolve, organisations are being encouraged to move beyond broad environmental claims and instead demonstrate measurable progress, accountability and evidence-based action. In response, we have refined our approach to carbon reporting, focusing on transparency, data quality and meaningful long-term improvement.
Since establishing our original carbon baseline in 2021, we have continued to grow our operations while improving the efficiency of our environmental performance. Our latest assessment highlights a number of positive developments, including a 7.5% reduction in carbon intensity per employee and a 12% reduction per £1 million of turnover, while maintaining a stable overall emissions profile despite increased operational activity.
During the past year, we have also transitioned our Head Office to renewable electricity, reduced emissions associated with travel, accommodation and waste, and expanded our reporting to capture a broader range of Scope 3 emissions. These improvements provide a more comprehensive understanding of our environmental impact and enable us to identify further opportunities for continuous improvement.
The assessment confirms that employee travel and commuting remain our most significant sources of emissions, reflecting the realities of delivering services across hundreds of client locations throughout the UK. Recognising this, we continue to explore practical initiatives that support lower-carbon ways of working while maintaining the high levels of service our clients expect.
Our latest assessment also represents an important milestone in the maturity of our carbon reporting. The improved quality and scope of the data collected will form the basis of a new reporting baseline, allowing us to measure future progress with even greater accuracy and confidence.
Where emissions cannot yet be eliminated, we continue to support carefully selected, independently verified climate projects that contribute to the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals. These initiatives help protect natural environments, improve access to clean energy and support communities around the world, complementing our ongoing efforts to reduce emissions within our own operations.
Our approach is built on a simple principle: measure what we control, influence what we can, and continually improve. By focusing on credible reporting and practical action, we aim to support our clients’ sustainability ambitions while creating long-term environmental value through every stage of our business.
